Most players compete as non-amateurs, however all players should understand the question
of amateur status. It has been published that less than 2% of golfers need to be
concerned about retaining amateur status. Amateur status is forfeited when a player
plays for any cash prize (or award valued over $750) without waiving his right to accept
the prize.
Amateur status is not affected when a player competes in the NIT qualifiers. He must
make a decision to play as a non-amateur to play for money in the National Championship.
This choice is made any time a player elects to play for cash prizes, including
Calcutta's, etc.
|
| |
Players may also qualify for the National Championship with a top five finish in an IGTA Tour Tournament.
|
The IGTA TOUR is a National Tour, with handicaps; offering significant cash prizes and
scheduled at some of the finest golf facilities around the country. You may play the
Tour or select one or two events that meet your schedule.
